Scripto does plain-text transcription of an entire document, disable the transcriptions in a Wiki. This is appropriateness for letters, articles, journals, and other prose documents.
Open Source Indexing supports structured data like census forms, militia records, baptismal records, or tax lists. It stores them (per entry) in a database-which can be searched by name, date range, etc. You would not want to use Open Source Indexing for family letters, and you would not want to use Scripto for census records.
Scripto is available as open source software and is accompanied by a comprehensive user manual, including technical instructions, tips for public outreach and examples of transcription guidelines.
You can free download Scripto and safe install the latest trial or new full version for Windows 10 (x32, 64 bit) from the official site.
