An electronic learning environment (ELO) is software that e-learning makes possible. Using a VLE platform, teachers and students can communicate with each other, collaborate, and execute commands. Chamilo is an open source ELO-based program.
Chamilo is an e-learning environment that is based on Dokeos. The project arose from dissatisfaction with the course that the Course is going to sail. Chamilo gives access to all functionality, unlike the free version of Dokeos.
A part of the Dokeosgemeenschap announced on 18 January 2010 that they wegbreekt of the Course and start with the new open source project Chamilo. As the reason for the fracture is indicated that it was not possible to work with Dokeos Company provides a consultative structure to build for the different partners involved in the project. In particular, the decision of Dokeos Company to not say to endure in the composition of the different releases and the ‘free’ release is greatly reduced in proportion to the paid versions have played a decisive role in the creation of Chamilo by a part of the previous Dokeos community.
