A partition is a section of a hard disk of a PC. A hard drive contains at least one partition, but it can also contain multiple partitions. Often, for example, a hard disk split into a C and a D partition to the Windows operating system to be separate from other documents.

Gnome Partition Editor, or simply GParted is a free partition software. With the Gnome Partition Editor, you can the hard drive of a computer partitioning, and these partitions change. Having multiple partitions on a computer can be useful when documents are separated from the operating system wants to store. It is also possible to by means of partitions more operating systems installed on one PC.

Gnome Partition Editor is made for Linux, but Windows users can also use it as a ISO file on CD and from the Live CD the PC to boot. Please note that dividing a hard disk into multiple partitions is only suitable for advanced computer users.

GParted is an open source program.

Gnome Partition Editor has the following features:

  • free partition manager software,
  • available as a LiveCD or USB version to directly start without having to install,
  • create, format, delete, move, shrink and enlarge, checking and copying partitions,
  • suitable for Linux,
  • after burning the ISO file on CD can GParted on Windows used to be,
