FFRend (or Freeframe Renderer) is a powerful renderer for Freeframe plugins. Thanks to it we can chain a large number of plugins and use them together, automate their parameters through oscillators, and record the joint output of all of them in an AVI video file. As input, the program accepts both AVI videos and static images (in BMP, JPG or GIF formats), or source plugins.
The fundamental difference of FFRend with respect to other programs is that FFRend is optimized for the generation of contents by itself, while other applications are limited to reproduce in real time the video or image inputs they receive. FFRend never lets out a single frame, even when our project is so large that it requires intensive CPU usage in order to render it.
It is also possible to vary the settings (for example, reduce the resolution, simplify your plugin chain, or use a more powerful PC) to vary the final frame rate. All oscillator parameters and options can be controlled via MIDI.
Finally, we review that FFRend has support for authoring plugins, which means that you can export any project you do with the program in the form of a Freeframe plugin. This will be called 'metaplugin' as it will be composed of other plugins. FFRend is not only free, but it is also open source: feel free to modify the source code as you wish.
You can free download FFRend 32, 64 bit and safe install the latest trial or new full version for Windows 10 from the official site.
