LoopBe1 is a virtual MIDI device used to transfer data between two or more computer programs. We could basically define it as a kind of 'invisible cable' with which to connect a MIDI output of any application to MIDI input of another. All MIDI data sent to the output of one program is forwarded to the other in real time.
LoopBe1 allows us to connect up to 8 applications to its input port, and a total of 8 at the output port, all of them sending and receiving data at the same time. The latency of the program is the minimum possible, since it is a kernel mode driver for Windows. Because programs do not need to link to special libraries, LoopBe1 is able to work with any application that has support for MIDI or DirectMusic. It also incorporates an icon in the system tray for more comfortable handling. You can activate it deactivate it as if it were a hardware device, and check its status instantly.
LoopBe1 has a very powerful shortcut detector, to avoid the problem of MIDI feedback. If feedback is detected, LoopBe1 will immediately mute its port, interrupting the loop and displaying a message on the screen.
LoopBe1 is a completely free tool for non-commercial use, and does not take up a significant amount of disk space: it is just under one megabyte in size.
