It is developed from the Mame emulator, popular video game emulator, so it has its same operating philosophy. PinMAME is able to emulate most electronic pinball machines.
For its operation, you need to have the pinball ROM files to emulate. They are memory chips that contain the program, sounds and animations of these machines. It does not emulate the board, balls and other physical components of this game. Despite this, it represents an excellent tool that allows you to reproduce and capture the animations and sounds, with which you can make new versions of the software of a pinball and try them comfortably.
To play pinball machines with PinMAME you need to install the Visual Pinball version.
