The Word Descifferer program accepts a word (complete or incomplete, no matter if it is missing some letters) and will then be responsible for searching for possible words generated in a specific dictionary, until deciphering the original word. For the characters of the word you don't know, you can use the wildcard ' * '. Of course, Word Descifferer is all the more precise the more letters we know of the original word. If we abuse the wild cards, the result of Word Descifferer can be a fairly broad word list with only a few letters in common.
Word Descifferer does not have a user interface itself, but works in console mode, although given the characteristics of the program this should not present any obstacle for the average user. The authors report on their website that they were planning to launch a version with a graphic interface, but it seems that this project has not had continuity.
At the moment the Word Descifferer program has support for a dictionary in the Swedish language, but we can expand this aspect without too much difficulty (unless you are Swedish or work in this language, the program will not be very useful if you do not adapt it). Word Descifferer is a totally free program, and is written in open source.
