When you delete a file in a normal way, the operating system does not physically delete it but simply 'hide it', and mark its sector as unoccupied so that if necessary another file is overwritten on top of it. Until this happens, that data will remain physically stored on the disk, with the danger that this entails if we want to keep them away from prying eyes, since they can be easily recovered using specific programs for it.
To avoid this circumstance, we have AccessProof. This is a free program that, before deleting a file, overwrites it several times, so we make sure that it cannot be recovered later in any way. Access Proof has two deletion methods: DoD 5220.22M and Gutmann. In addition, it also removes the names of the files, and deletes possible remnants that may be left on the hard drive, in order to free up space.
