When we are responsible for ensuring the security and maintenance of a specific network, it is important to establish a system of permissions and privileges, to specify which users or equipment belonging to that network can access certain functions and characteristics of that network. In this way, we can restrict access to confidential information or elements to certain members of the network, so that only a small part, selected by us, can reach such information. And to be sure that these permissions and privileges that we have established are not violated at any time, we can resort to the use of a tool like the one presented below. It is a small application of just under 2 Mb in size, which is called Net Share Watcher.
Net Share Watcher monitors all folder shares and permissions on a given network, alerting the user each time a member modifies the ACL of a share to a group that violates access permissions (for example, changing the ACL of a folder to "Everybody").
If a change is detected that violates your rules, Net Share Watcher is still able to disable sharing, send an email or network message, or notify you through the system tray.
You can free download Net Share Watcher 32, 64 bit and safe install the latest trial or new full version for Windows 10 from the official site.
