This photograph was taken in Cholula - Puebla (Mexico), from the top of a church located in a Mayan pyramid, and shows us a beautiful panorama of the Popocatepetl volcano. The Popocatepetl is the second highest peak in Mexico, and it is a fairly active volcano.
Its name is composed of "popoca", which in the Nahuatl language means "that smokes", and "tepetl", which we could translate as "mountain", resulting in "the smoking mountain" which, given its activity, is a Appellative quite successful. Popocatepetl is characterized by the conical and symmetrical shape of its skirt, and for having perennial glaciers in its highest part, next to the mouth of the volcano. Its summit is nowhere near negligible figure of 5,500 meters above sea level, only surpassed in Mexico by another volcano, called Citlaltepetl, whose highest point is 5,610 meters above sea level.
