Puddle makes the task of recoding character sets possible, as is done in Linux or iconv, but in a much more portable, accessible and convenient way for the user. For this, it uses a graphical interface (something that the aforementioned systems lack) and a special emphasis on ease of use.
Indeed, the main feature of Charco is the inclusion of a user interface to carry out character conversion tasks. Its handling is very simple: The program admits as input a string, represented with a certain set of characters, and offers as a result the same string represented by a set of different characters. We just have to indicate the initial file, and press the conversion button.
To bring this purpose to fruition, it is inevitable to have great flexibility. For that reason, Charco has support for all character sets and encodings of virtually all platforms: Windows, Linux and even OS X. All this including of course full compatibility with absolutely all UTF encodings, the most used in all areas.
