Even today there are many (and nostalgic) users who are still working at some times in MSDOS and for them this little program called DOSname is designed. Many times we even have to use the DOS console in Windows to execute some very specific commands or operations that cannot be done through the usual graphical interface of the operating system. That is why it can be very useful to have DOSname on hand.
DOSname provides you in MSDOS format with the exact name of a path or a specific file name, which makes it easier for you to access that file from that environment. As you know, in DOS the names of files and folders differ markedly from what we see in Windows, especially because of the limitation of characters. A file called test_file.txt can be transformed into TEST_F ~ 1.TXT in the DOS console. And writing this manually (not only writing it, but even knowing it) is a very cumbersome job.
The DOSname user interface is very simple: it consists of only two areas or text fields: one to indicate the file or path whose name DOS we want to know, and another below where we will see the full result in DOS format. As it can not be otherwise, we can run the DOSname program from the DOS command line.
