After the successes harvested by the Breakout of Atari (1976) and the Arkanoid of Taito (1986), the breaking of colored bricks by bouncing a ball with the help of a palette has become a very recurring mechanic for many video game developers , who have tried to adapt, version, emulate, honor or even plagiarize directly the aforementioned - and longed for - titles. Here, we present one of these versions, called Animal Attack, which, although it has the playable premises of Breakout and Arkanoid, also brings some novelties, although minor, in its staging.
And is that Animal Attack presents a couple of differences with respect to the games of Atari and Taito, which make it stand out among the whole legion of clones that flood the market. The first of them, and that can be guessed by the same name of the game, is the replacement of the everlasting bricks of colors with a varied collection of animal icons. This change is merely visual, since the fact of throwing a ball at some fish, rabbits, roosters or pigs instead of the classic bricks does not alter the development of the games at all.
The other change does affect the gameplay slightly, and, in Animal Attack, our palette will not be located in the lower part of the screen as opposed to the bricks of the ceiling, but will be on one of the sides of the monitor, while that animals congregate at the other end. This will make our strokes not as accurate and accurate as in other similar games, but it will add some originality and freshness to a genre that was already too exploited.
