With OpenToonz, you can now make your own animations. The animation software Toonz is used among others by Studio Ghibli, known for such films as Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke, and the creators of the animated series Futurama and The Simpsons Movie. Not the least of these, and you can now also join the battle. The software has recently become completely open source, giving everybody a contribution to make. It therefore has the name OpenToonz.
The software is completely free and available for Windows and Mac OS X.
The chances are that you sometimes a movie or a series has seen, for which the creators of the program Toonz used. Animators can themselves now to a new level, without a penny extra to spend. That also applies to you, if you are in the world of animation to steps. You must be there for some time to deepen, because the program is not always as easy to use. You can, however, with OpenToonz already pretty fast himself 2D animation, the technique that is also used in the previously mentioned animation series and movies. With the software you can create a simple handmade drawing to create an animation.
OpenToonz is a small program and you have your own animation in no time installed. In addition to the free version, you can also enjoy a free package effects download and special GTS-software, that a drawing or animation scans and recognizes.
When you open the program, you can find a number of useful options open, so you can start working. Is easy to the toolbar, to open, at the top of the program, with all the effects and possibilities, which help you to make your image a real animation. At the bottom you will find the chronological sequence of your animation. You can import images, but you can also choose to use your mouse in a figure drawing in the program itself. With the latter you can create a character also all kinds of colors. When you use different images behind each other, each with a slightly different shape, than you can choose the playback controls for more options, to your image to make it move.
You can also have different layers to make OpenToonz, where each layer do something different. Do you have a background and you want to get away from there a plane on the rise, draw first the background, and on a two layer, which is about your background superimposed, then draw the plane. You can then take a point set, where you want the plane flies. That may be outside the camera, the field in which your animation takes place. Then it renders you everything and you can create your animation. It is one of the many possibilities. The program, which is normally thousands of euros, is now available for everyone. For professional companies and studios, there remains the paid premium version.
