Kaspersky also introduced a free version of its virus scanner in 2017. In tests from independent organizations such as AV-Test and AV-Comparatives, the paid version of Kaspersky always scores very high. Free excellent protection, without too many annoying unnecessary extras that you usually get with other free virus scanners.
Kaspersky Free was made available by the Russian producer in July 2017 and offers the same level of protection as the paid version of Kaspersky. Only you do not have access to additional security components such as parental control, privacy protection, VPN, anti-spam, firewall and secure internet banking and shopping. If you want that, you have to pay.
But of course Kaspersky Free offers very good real-time basic protection of files, e-mail, instant messaging (chat) and when you visit websites. Furthermore, the virus scanner has self-protection (to prevent malware from turning Kaspersky off) and quarantine of malicious files.
Kaspersky Free has all the types of protection shown, you can onlydisable themin the free version (but of course that's okay)
In addition to the excellent protection, independent tests always show that Kaspersky is light (ensures little delay) and gives hardly any false alarm. Another big plus is that you are not offered too many superfluous extras during the installation. The paid VPN client Kaspersky Secure Connection (with 200 MB of free data traffic per day) is also installed. However, you do not need to use this and can delete it.
Kaspersky uses browser addons for web protection, but these are without advertising and purely functional as far as we could discover. Excellent protection without too many unnecessary extras.
Kaspersky Free has also been rolled out in the Benelux since October 2017: a Dutch version is available. To use Kaspersky, you mustregister for freewith your email address.
You can free download Kaspersky Free 32, 64 bit and safe install the latest trial or new full version for Windows 10 from the official site.
