Malwarebytes (formerly Malwarebytes Anti-Malware) is a great anti-malware program. Malwarebytes searches your entire PC with a threat scan within ten minutes and then removes found viruses, spyware and other malware. The free version does not offer real-time protection. There are also versions for Mac and Android.
Malwarebytes is - in the free variant - a so-called on-demand scanner. Scanning must therefore be done manually. The paid version offers real-time protection with anti-exploit and anti-ransomware as extras. Since Malwarebytes 3, the paid version has been positioned as an alternative to virus scanners, but tests do not always show Malwarebytes as well.

The free Malwarebytes has had automatic updates since version 3 and can do a full scan of your PC. Found threats are quarantined.
Malwarebytes has also integrated anti-rootkit, but this function must be turned on manually (perhaps because this component sometimes causes false positives). In 2016, Malwarebytes purchased the popular AdwCleaner, which cleans up adware and PUPs (potentially unwanted programs). AdwCleaner is also integrated in Malwarebytes. The free version of Malwarebytes is good to use assecond opinionfor your virus scanner, continuous protection is only offered by the paid version. An occasional on-demand scan with Malwarebytes won't hurt as extra security.
Mac
The Mac version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (see image) is very simple: you scan your Mac and if malware or adware is found then MBAM offers to remove it. Furthermore, only additional information and help is available.
Android
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware now also protects your Android smartphone and tablet. The mobile version of the security software scans your device, protects itreal-timeand has an app manager and privacy manager.
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Mobile detects and removes malware, spyware and Trojan horses. Your phone and tablet are continuously protected in the background and a daily scan takes place. You can also manually scan for malicious apps.
Furthermore, MBAM (as the app is usually abbreviated) has a handy privacy manager at its disposal with which you can see which apps have access to your calendar, text messages, personal information, accounts and location (and there are quite a few ). You can also do aSecurity Auditto discover weak spots in the security of your mobile. You may - if you wish - then take the recommended actions.
Finally, MBAM also has abasic appmanager on board. This allows you to view which apps are running and installed. You can also force apps to close.
